Starring Grace by Mary Hoffman

Hoffman, M. (2000). Starring Grace. New York, New York: Penguin Group.

Summary:
School is out for Grace, and she's ready for some fun!  Grace and her friends set up a headquarters in her backyard, and they have all sorts of fun there including having a circus, launching a rocket, and setting up an emergency room.  They have many adventures together throughout the summer including getting into a bit of trouble occasionally.  They go exploring in what they think is a haunted house, and they believe the owner of the house is actually a witch.  Several historical events are included in the book such as the first landing on the moon and it implies the horrors of World War II.  The book ends with Grace trying out for a role in a play, just like in the first book about Grace titled Amazing Grace.  Other books about Grace are available by this author.

Awards:
  • None known for this book (will update if I learn of any).
  • Mary Hoffman has earned the Primary English Award and Waldenbooks Silver Picture Book Award.
