Rebekkah's Journey: A World War II Refugee Story by Ann E. Burg

Burg, A. E. (2000). Rebekkah's journey: a World War II refugee story. Ann Arbor, Michigan: Sleeping Bear Press.

Summary:
Rebekkah and her mother are refugees who have fled Europe.  In 1944, they find themselves in upstate New York at an army base along with many other refugees who fled Europe towards the end of World War II.  Needless to say, there are many adjustments they must make in this strange new land with so many things unfamiliar to them.  Rebekkah tries to push aside her fears and uncertainties and tries to recreate tiny bits of home for her mother.  Over time, they adjust to their new home in America.
