The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco

Summary: 
The story is told from the author's point of view, being the great great granddaughter of a Jewish immigrant from Russia.  The story starts off telling about the quilt that her great great grandmother, Anna, and her immigrant neighbors made shortly after arriving in America.  The quilt was created to help the family remember Russia once they moved to New York City and was created from materials from different family members.  It has been handed down from generation to generation, being incorporated into special occasions of various family members.  Eventually, this story was expanded to include the author's two children in the story.
